After living in NYC for over a decade, I’ve made it a hobby to enjoy many different types of restaurants. New York City is a small city (as far as size goes), but in the small city it sure has many options. In this guide, I’ll share with you some of my favorite places to eat and enjoy a night out.

One of the best sushi places, is Sushi of Gari. They have a location on the Upper East Side and one midtown west, located near the theaters. The sushi is extremely creative and the fish is as fresh as it gets.

If you’re looking for Italian food, I’ll give you a few cheaper options, since Gari’s definitely not cheap. Bar Pitti is a real tasty treat. It does not take reservations, so expect to wait. The wait is well worth it, especially for the price you’ll pay. There’s also La Mela, which is more famous since it’s a staple in Little Italy. It’s family style and you’ll definitely walk out of here full!

Ramen Noodle shops have become extremely popular throughout downtown NYC. People come from all over the world and it’s a must stop for the visiting Asians. That’s the first sign that it must be good. Also expect to wait approximately one hour or more at this establishment, but again, it will sure be worth it. It’s basically a gourmet cup o’noodle, but that doesn’t even come close to doing it justice. This is located just south of Union Square.

If you’re craving some sweets, head on down to Magnolia Bakery on Bleeker Street. I never thought I would like banana pudding, but once I tried it there it was game over! It’s the type of dessert you will crave after trying it.

Those are a few of my favorite places to grab some grub in NYC. If you’re looking for a good meal, you can’t go wrong with any of these!

Claudio Harrison is a resident of NYC. When he’s not dining out, he’s often found working on his car and his diesel exhaust systems. For more on his auto hobby, check out http://dieselexhaustsystems.org.

It has often been said that if you need to ask the price you can’t afford it, and that is certainly the case with the world’s most expensive ice cream sundae. This decadent creation will set you back a cool grand, enough for a month’s rent in most parts of the country. For that kingly price ice cream lovers with cash to spare are treated to the best ingredients, including a unique gold leaf topping.

This ultimate indulgence is only available at the famous Serendipity restaurant in New York City, and the restaurant owners claim that they sell on average once of these $1,000 sundaes each month, proof that there are indeed ice cream lovers for who money is no object.

The Golden Opulence Sundae owes is existence to the 50th anniversary of Serendipity. The restaurant was looking for a fitting way to celebrate its “golden” anniversary, and the ultimate indulgence was born.

Those with $1,000 to spare can enjoy five scoops of ice cream made from the richest Tahitian vanilla bean. This rich vanilla flavor is further enhanced by an infusion of genuine vanilla from the island of Madagascar. This massive mound of ice cream is then covered with a topping of edible 23 Karat gold leaf, the perfect ending for such a decadent treat.

The world’s most expensive sundae is also topped with the world’s most expensive chocolate, including the extremely rare Chuao chocolate. This rich chocolate is derived from specially harvested cocoa beans grown on the coast of Venezuela. The sundae is further enhanced with an assortment of candied exotic fruits from Paris, along with truffles and Marizpan cherries. The whole thing is topped off with a tiny bowl which houses the Grand Passion Caviar. This exclusive caviar, designed exclusively for use in dessert, is considered by many to be the best in the world. This caviar is also known for its distinctive gold color, a fitting tribute to this golden anniversary treat.

Even the ice cream dish is a masterpiece – a baccarat Harcourt crystal goblet fit to hold this decadent one of a kind dessert. Ice cream lovers can enjoy their first taste of this special indulgence with an 18 Karat gold spoon, thus completing the ultra-luxurious cycle of this golden ice cream treat.

The Grand Opulence Sundae is certainly not for everyone – but that is after all the point. This sweet treat is meant to be just that – an indulgence – not only for those who can afford to disregard price but also as a special treat for more pedestrian budgets. One could for instance imagine a wealthy but not super-rich couple enjoying the Grand Opulence Sundae as part of their 50th wedding anniversary celebration. While ice cream is not the first thing that comes mind when one thinks of haute cuisine, Serendipity has certainly made a name for itself with the world’s most expensive sundae.

If you’re going to a show in one of Boston’s downtown theaters or comedy clubs, be sure to plan a gala pre-curtain dinner or a post-theater drink and dessert at one of Boston’s Theatre District restaurants . Here are suggestions for three of the best – plus a nearby food court where you can grab a fast bite if you’re running so late that you’re about to miss the opening act.

Jacob Wirth (31-37 Stuart Street, Boston) has been serving hearty German food and great beer to Bostonians since 1868. Like many other restaurants started around the same time, Jacob Wirth was opened by German immigrants who served up specialties like sauerbraten and wiener schnitzel. Although American favorites like burgers, fish and chips, sweet potato fries, sandwiches, and mac and cheese are now now equally popular, one thing hasn’t changed during the last 140 years: the great beer. The restaurant’s Jake’s Bar features an excellent selection of German and Belgium beers, but you can also order plenty of other European and American labels.

Because Jacob Wirth is right in the middle of Boston’s Theatre District, lots of theater goers and local regulars gather here every night. Jake’s is a special destination on Fridays, when a live piano player, song books, and enthusiastic singers carry on a old tradition of conviviality that carries forward into the 21st century. Great food, reasonable prices, and of course, the best beer in Boston make this a winner.

Teatro (177 Tremont Street), on the edge of the Boston Theatre District, has a spectacular setting overlooking Boston Common. Inside, the arched mosaic ceiling and celebrity chef/owner Jamie Mammamo’s open kitchen provide drama of their own. The mostly Italian, always yummy cuisine can be served as small plates or full portions and mixes down-home goodness with sophisticated tastes. Try the braised pork shank with mashed sweet potatoes… or maybe a small plate of truffled deviled eggs, or some chicken Milanese.

For an after-theater treat, stop by Teatro for a glass of Italian wine or perhaps espresso, and one of their fabulous desserts. Try their chocolate semifreddo with crisp meringue and salted caramel/expresso sauc …or the vanilla bean panna cotta with strawberries…or the homemade, out-of-this-world gelato.

Erbaluce (69 Church Street), near the Charles Playhouse theater and Improv Asylum comedy club, features Piedmontese-influenced contemporary dishes starring fresh fish, organic meats, and lots of veggies and herbs. Chef/owner Charles Draghi has been receiving acclaim for his unusual offerings such as wild boar. Desserts get high marks here as well.

City Place Food Court (ground floor of the Massachusetts Transportation Building at the intersection of Stuart, Charles, and Boylston Streets) doesn’t compete with Theatre District restaurants like Jacob Wirth, Teatro, or Erbaluce for cuisine–in fact, it offers basically what you’d find in any shopping mall food court. But for those times when despite your best intentions, your schedule slips and you’re about to miss the first act, it’s a good option as well as an attractive space.

One of Boston’s premier architecture firms, Goody, Clancy & Associates designed the Transportation Building back in the 1980s, and food court is in the middle of a soaring atrium that opens to the upper parts of the building. When you leave, go out through “The Alley” toward Boylston Street and take note of the nightspots that you’ll pass, in case you want to return later for an after-theater drink.

New York City has many great restaurants, all with different reasons to love them. But one excels in decor, food, ambiance and overall experience. Public is just that place.

Public is an eclectic and Australian restaurant in the small neighborhood of NoLita. It was designed by the design firm AvroKo, which is known for it’s extremely stylish and ambient decor, setting the right mood when dining at one of their spaces. Public is not only a restaurant, it also has a great bar and lounge area where you can sit at small tables or at the bar and enjoy great specialty cocktails or an Australian beer.

The Monday Room is an annex to Public, which is a great wine bar and lounge. The spot is located to the left of the entrance to Public and you have access to a wine steward who will give you recommendations, prepare a flight of wines or come up with food and wine pairings from their menu. It is definitely a great place for a date to relax with some friends.

Aside from the decor of Public, which is exquisite, the food really excels. Everything from the appetizers to the entrees to the desserts are all mouth watering. The kangaroo, which you probably can’t get in most restaurants could be the best thing on the menu.

In addition to dinner and lunch, Public serves a fantastic brunch and usually has special deals like a prix fixe with a complementary bloody mary or mimosa. It’s not a shabby way to spend your Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Afterwards, you can walk around NoLita and go shopping at some of the cool stores.

Overall, Public is a great spot for a special occasion or a date. If you’re looking for good food, atmosphere and decor, this is the place to go. It could be a little pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. You will not be disappointed.

Bay Village may be Boston’s smallest neighborhood but its location next to the Boston Theatre District means that Bay Village restaurants are top choices for before-show dinners and after-show drinks, as well as fine dining on any other occasion. You’ll find one of the city’s best French restaurants, a top steakhouse located in a castle, a couple of highly regarded Italian restaurants, and a couple of more casual choices tucked away in this conveniently-located neighborhood. Here are two mouth-watering options to consider.

Pigalle (75 Charles Street South, next to Radisson Hotel) is a long-time favorite with theater-goers. This award-winning French restaurant specializes in using the freshest local ingredients to prepare classic French cuisine. Chef Marc Orfaly offers an a la carte menu with daily specials, as well as several other options: a 3-course prix-fixe menu, a casual bar and patio menu featuring $1 oysters on the half shell plus many other yummy items, and special chef’s tasting menus, with and without wine pairings. On Wednesdays, there’s even a “kitchen vs. bar battle” that pits 3 tastes from the kitchen against 3 drinks from the bar – this may be a battle, but it’s also a win-win!

What should you try here? For starters, think about the spiced carrot soup with calamari and a touch of chorizo, or the arugula salad with fried goat cheese fritters. The crabcakes, and the charcuterie platters are also wonderful. Plus Pigalle makes some of Boston’s best French onion soup with fabulous 4-cheese croutons.

For main courses, consider the crispy comfit duck with herb spatzle and creamed Brussels sprouts, or the halibut baked in a flaky crust with creamed artichokes and jasmine rice. You can also get a riff on the classic French steak-frites – at Pigalle, it’s a juicy flank steak with peppers, French fries, and creamed spinach.

Dessert choices at Pigalle also run to the classics – creme brulee, a pineapple tart with mascarpone pastry cream and chocolate sorbet, a cheese platter, and other tempting daily specials.

Erbaluce (69 Church Street) is the newest of the Bay Village restaurants, and Boston diners are quickly becoming addicted to Chef Charles Draghi’s Piedmontese Italian cuisine. Named for an Italian grape, the restaurant features dishes that are flavored with herbs, fruit and vegetable essences, and cooking techniques such as roasting that bring out the flavor of each dish – no heavy creams or sauces here!

The menu changes a few times each week, depending on what’s in season and freshest in the markets. You’ll find organic meats and produce, plus dishes based on game such as wild boar that you don’t usually find in restaurants. One of my favorites is the spaghetti with clams in fennel-tomato broth with bottarga, a pressed block of cure tuna or mullet roe that’s shaved on top of the pasta, giving it an incredibly buttery, sort of caviar-like flavor – try this and you’ll immediately start planning your next visit to Erbaluce.

With even more Bay Village restaurants to try in nearby streets, you may decide to skip the theater and just concentrate on eating. Be sure to walk around Bay Village afterwards to admire the early 19th century Federal architecture and work off all those calories!

Susan writes about other favorite Boston restaurants in http://www.Boston-Discovery-Guide.com/boston-restaurants.html, where she shares information about more mouth-watering Bay Village restaurants

These days, when you are travelling down the highway, you always see a number of different restaurants or signs that are advertising different restaurants. Although some people do not want to admit it, dining out has become a big part of American life. It used to be when the man of the house came home, the wife had already prepared dinner and it was setting on the table ready for the family to eat. Now, dining has completely changed because now when the man of the house comes home, his wife may not even be home yet because she is at work, and if she is, she is more likely to say; let’s eat out tonight.

Dining in restaurants has become second nature when families or busy, or if they want to dress up and go out to a fancy dinner and a night on the town. It is easier to get dressed up and drive to a place where they prepare all of the food for you and just set it on the table for you to eat rather than sit at home for hours in the kitchen trying to make a meal. Even if a family does want to eat in the comfort of their own home, many restaurants offer takeout and delivery to their customers, where a person can come in and pick up the food and take it home or a person from the restaurant will deliver the food right to your front door.

It is also easy for families to do research on restaurants because there are many dining reviews of different establishments available online for anyone to see. These are done by critics who go to the restaurant and have a meal and then write about the positives and negatives on the restaurant so people can easily decide if they want to eat there or not.

Restaurants have also helped boost economies all over the world, often accounting for a big part of the country’s revenue. Corporations like McDonald’s have brought large economic increases and stabilization to different third world countries who have little to no revenue.

Although most people have not realized and just gone on with their regular routines, dining out has become a big part of the world, and people are eating less at home and more in an eating establishment.

Which major east coast city is home to the 2007 Best Northeast Chef? If you said New York City and that is your final answer, you just lost the game. If you said Boston, you win the prize. And the 2007 James Beard Award Best Northeast Chef is just the beginning of what Boston has to delight your taste buds.

In the heart of fashionable Back Bay, in an 1880 townhouse, you will find sophisticated and modern New England-French cuisine, with an emphasis on artisanal and New England ingredients. At L’Espalier (30 Gloucester Street), you will also find Chef Frank McClelland, the 2007 James Beard Award Best Northeast Chef. Also in Back Bay, you’ll find a specialist in classic steak house cuisine and an award-winning wine selection at Capital Grille (359 Newbury Street). And at Vox (755 Boylston Street), known for its martinis, Chef Eric Bogardus offers dishes like Woven Flounder or Ostrich Stroganoff on an American Bistro-style menu.

Seafood is a New England classic and part of Boston’s history is its noted seafood. The Union Oyster House (41 Union Street), established in 1826, claims to be the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the USA. They claim you can find the best clam chowder in New England, along with fresh seafood. Reserve the booth John F. Kennedy favored while practicing law in his early days. Overlooking Boston Harbor, Anthony’s Pier 4 (140 Northern Avenue) offers an exceptional dining experience with the freshest seafood and succulent Maine lobsters. At Atlantic Fish Co. (761 Boylston Street) the kitchen serves up raw bar classics like shrimp cocktail, iced Littleneck clams and Blue Point oysters. For a more upscale ambience, McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant (34 Columbus Ave, Boston Park Plaza Hotel) is just the ticket in the Theatre District.

Boston’s North End is famous for all things Italian, and the restaurants live up to the reputation. Cantina Italiana (346 Hanover Street) is a long-time favorite of locals and visitors alike. Open since 1931, Cantina Italiana is the oldest restaurant in the North End, and offers a warm and charming atmosphere with a relaxed dining experience. Ristorante Fiore (250 Hanover Street) offers authentic Italian cuisine in an elegant setting and the North End’s only seasonal patio and rooftop dining.

If Sunday Brunch is your dish, Café Fleuri (250 Franklin Street, The Langham hotel) was voted one of Boston’s best. The Sunday Jazz Brunch is just one of its specialties. It offers a brasserie-style dining experience, with an open kitchen and complete brick oven that allows diners a glimpse of culinary creativity firsthand. In addition to breakfast (voted “Best Power Breakfast”), lunch, and dinner seven days a week, Café Fleuri also offers a famous Saturday Chocolate Bar. Harvest (44 Brattle Street, Cambridge) offers another award-winning Sunday Brunch, as well as American cuisine showcasing the region’s freshest ingredients and seasonal product. Harvest was voted Top New England Restaurant by the Zagat Survey. If you’re packing kids, Bostonians recommend Toro (1704 Washington Street), voted Best of Boston 2007 Kid-Friendly Brunch.

For a meal with a view, Top of the Hub (800 Boylston Street, Prudential Center, 52nd Floor) offers a 360-degree view of the city, plus live jazz and original American dishes with unique flavors.

No major city is without its friendly arguments over the best pizza and Boston is no exception. At Pizzeria Regina (11 Thacher Street), Bostonians have enjoyed tasty brick oven pizza for over 70 years. For specialty pizza, head to Croma (269 Newbury Street), where the special is in the combinations like Peking duck, scallions, and hoisin sauce, or bacon, sausage, mozzarella, and an egg, sunny-side up.

For casual dining, try Bukowski Tavern (50 Dalton Street), voted Best of Boston 2007 Pub Grub. The burgers are big and messy, and the menu includes classic barbequed chicken tenders and the one and only White-Trash Cheese Dip. If you want your casual with a healthy twist, try B. Good (131 Dartmouth Street), where two childhood friends offers guilt-free burgers, fries, along with vegetarian dishes and salads.

Top off your Boston tastebud tour with a confection from Choco Choco House (83 Pembroke Street), voted Best of Boston 2007 Chocolate. Or indulge in one of Boston’s favorite dishes, ice cream. Bostonians eat more ice cream per capita than anyone else in the USA, and when they want the best, it’s Christina’s (1255 Cambridge Street) with 40 rotating offerings, some created with ingredients from the spice shop next door.

If you are headed to Boston to experience the best in the northeast, CRSHotels.com has the perfect hotel for you. Stay at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers, with McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant onsite, or The Langham Boston, featuring Café Fleuri. Choose the Lenox Hotel Boston, the Hilton Boston Financial District, or the Best Western Adams Inn Boston.

What Was That Place, Honey?

After a good meal of fresh crabs, shrimp Creole, and grilled juicy Tuna slabs, it’s time to go ask for the place’s business card. You’ll want to recommend the place to you family and friends. Start collecting these cards and stack it in your personalized business card holders. One day it’ll pay dividends.

It’s very frustrating not to recall the place when somebody asks you the name of that great discovery and all you can say is “What was that place, honey?” You have no choice bout to draw a map and put an X on the place that’s supposed to be the great find.

A call placed to the restaurant may yield information how to find the place but it’s different when you know which to call for that lip-smacking Italian Veal Rolls and Baked Fennel.

If you are also in the food business or a columnist writing about great dine-out places, these personalized business card holders are your important tools of the trade, so take no chances.

To make sure you have the right place, always write that spectacular menu at the back of the business card before you hustle it into your personalized business card holders. You’ll know which to call for what and which to recommend to your boss.

The Great Dine-outs Without The Sting

In Denver, there’s this restaurant on Colfax Avenue that has the scrumptious desserts and filling meals – seafood, spicy Mexican delights, and pasta, and the beer is overflowing. There’s actually booze in the mixed drinks. You’ll love to hang out there too because of the friendly staff.

The French Roast Cafa in Broadway, New York has goat cheese salad and chilled avocado soup to die for. You’ll also love the salads and the gratins they served. It’s always a busy place, but no wonder.

In San Francisco, there’s this restaurant that repeats the classic old world charm in its interiors. The best seared day boat scallops is just one of the many reasons to go there. A bit expensive but you’ll get the best dining experience on less expense.

Just imagine if you lose their business cards because you didn’t file it in your personalized business card holders! Forget the name of the restaurant and lose the business card, and all is lost. Okay you can find it in the internet, but nothing beats the fact that you have at your disposal tons of business cards to best eats.

More Expensive Dining

If you have a yen for expensive dining, there’s this culinary palace in the upper East Side that offers a five course meal at a whooping $125 per person. If this doesn’t shock you yet, there’s another elegant restaurant in Napa Valley that serves dinner at a mind-boggling $254 per person.

So keep the chef’s business cards on your personalized business card holders for that big spending – and truly great dining experience.

Your personalized business card holders and credit card holders are cool groomsmen gift ideas. Check out executivegiftshoppe.com now for great buys.

Las Vegas is an impressive restaurant destination in all price ranges. Although the fine dining category has really exploded in the past few years, there are still many restaurants in Las Vegas where you can eat delicious food at low prices. Read on to learn about some of the restaurants, many of which are locals favorites, that will give you the most for your money and satisfy your hunger.

Pepe’s Tacos is a local favorite for 24-hour authentic Mexican food. There are three locations of Pepe’s Tacos in Las Vegas. A notable breakfast option is the chorizo con juevos, which is sausage with eggs, served with beans rice and tortillas for $5.25. They have many lunch and dinner plates for under $8, with meals such as carnitas (deep fried pork), carne asada (grilled chopped steak), mojarra (a fish plate), tortas, super burritos, and a variety of tacos. All meals include beans, rice and tortillas. They also have carne asada french fries, chips and guacamole and authentic Mexican drinks such as Horchata and Jarritos.

Aloha Kitchen is a local gem that brings true Hawaiian cuisine to the Las Vegas area. Aloha Kitchen has three locations in Las Vegas, one that includes a bar with gaming and karaoke. They have a large selection of Hawaiian food, including garlic chicken with gravy, chicken teriyaki bowls (the teriyaki sauce is excellent), loco moco (homemade hamburger patty topped with eggs and gravy over rice), kalbi ribs (beef short ribs marinated in a Korean style sauce), kalua pig and cabbage, a mahi mahi plate and much more, most for under $10, some much less. They also have a $5 off coupon on their website.

Roberto’s Taco Shop has at least 11 locations around Las Vegas and is quite simply cheap eating at its best. They have a range of combination plates, tortas, tostadas, burritos, tacos and taquitos. Their carne asada super nachos are absolutely scrumptious and a huge portion at that. The chicken tacos are deep fried and stuffed with chicken, cheese and lettuce. They have a huge menu with most prices in the $5 to $7 range. Open 24/7, some of the Roberto’s locations are even connected to pubs.

El Pollo Loco is a large restaurant chain that specializes in mouth-watering flame-grilled chicken. If you have never had the opportunity to try the delectable chicken of El Pollo Loco, give it a shot while you’re in the Las Vegas area. There are 12 locations around town, each with a plentiful salsa bar to help you dress up your meal. Chicken is the king of this place, with the inside being juicy while the outside is crispy and golden-colored, some pieces are even slightly blackened. The meals are Mexican-influenced and there are many fresh, healthy choices on this menu. The prices are in the $5-$7 range.

Villa Pizza serves up the most authentic New York thin-crust pizza in the Las Vegas valley. I recommend the Sahara/Valley View location as being a real treasure. The crust, sauce and piping-hot cheese that drips off the slice are lip-smacking good. There are a couple of lunch specials that cost about $5. You can buy a slice or a whole pie, or try their salads or pastas. For dessert, they have a great fried dough treat covered in powdered sugar (zeppoli)and served fresh in a paper bag.

The Feast Gourmet Buffet at Boulder Station was remodeled in 2009 and it offers a wide variety of excellent food in a comfortable and attractive setting. You can find a 2 for 1 coupon for this buffet daily in the Las Vegas Review Journal. Sign up for their players card (called “Boarding Pass” at Station Casinos) for discounts on already low buffet prices. If you are gambling in any casino, it is a good idea to sign up for a players card as it tracks your money spent and offers you rewards/comps (often on dining) based on this information.

There is a lot of potential in Las Vegas to eat a variety of tasty food on a dime. As a former 11-year resident of Las Vegas, these are the places that I grew to love and I now look forward to visiting when I am in town. If you are in Las Vegas and looking for some great local flavor, any one of these fine budget eating options will please your taste buds and not leave you broke.

Sarah Stockham is a writer, co-owner of an online pet certificate service and is pursuing further entreprenuerial goals. She is a former 11-year resident of Las Vegas, and is now a resident of beautiful Spokane, Washington. She operates a vacation rental property in Las Vegas, called Moonlight Ranch. For more details about Moonlight Ranch, please feel free to check it out at http://www.moonlightranchlasvegas.com/.
