Which major east coast city is home to the 2007 Best Northeast Chef? If you said New York City and that is your final answer, you just lost the game. If you said Boston, you win the prize. And the 2007 James Beard Award Best Northeast Chef is just the beginning of what Boston has to delight your taste buds.

In the heart of fashionable Back Bay, in an 1880 townhouse, you will find sophisticated and modern New England-French cuisine, with an emphasis on artisanal and New England ingredients. At L’Espalier (30 Gloucester Street), you will also find Chef Frank McClelland, the 2007 James Beard Award Best Northeast Chef. Also in Back Bay, you’ll find a specialist in classic steak house cuisine and an award-winning wine selection at Capital Grille (359 Newbury Street). And at Vox (755 Boylston Street), known for its martinis, Chef Eric Bogardus offers dishes like Woven Flounder or Ostrich Stroganoff on an American Bistro-style menu.

Seafood is a New England classic and part of Boston’s history is its noted seafood. The Union Oyster House (41 Union Street), established in 1826, claims to be the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the USA. They claim you can find the best clam chowder in New England, along with fresh seafood. Reserve the booth John F. Kennedy favored while practicing law in his early days. Overlooking Boston Harbor, Anthony’s Pier 4 (140 Northern Avenue) offers an exceptional dining experience with the freshest seafood and succulent Maine lobsters. At Atlantic Fish Co. (761 Boylston Street) the kitchen serves up raw bar classics like shrimp cocktail, iced Littleneck clams and Blue Point oysters. For a more upscale ambience, McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant (34 Columbus Ave, Boston Park Plaza Hotel) is just the ticket in the Theatre District.

Boston’s North End is famous for all things Italian, and the restaurants live up to the reputation. Cantina Italiana (346 Hanover Street) is a long-time favorite of locals and visitors alike. Open since 1931, Cantina Italiana is the oldest restaurant in the North End, and offers a warm and charming atmosphere with a relaxed dining experience. Ristorante Fiore (250 Hanover Street) offers authentic Italian cuisine in an elegant setting and the North End’s only seasonal patio and rooftop dining.

If Sunday Brunch is your dish, Café Fleuri (250 Franklin Street, The Langham hotel) was voted one of Boston’s best. The Sunday Jazz Brunch is just one of its specialties. It offers a brasserie-style dining experience, with an open kitchen and complete brick oven that allows diners a glimpse of culinary creativity firsthand. In addition to breakfast (voted “Best Power Breakfast”), lunch, and dinner seven days a week, Café Fleuri also offers a famous Saturday Chocolate Bar. Harvest (44 Brattle Street, Cambridge) offers another award-winning Sunday Brunch, as well as American cuisine showcasing the region’s freshest ingredients and seasonal product. Harvest was voted Top New England Restaurant by the Zagat Survey. If you’re packing kids, Bostonians recommend Toro (1704 Washington Street), voted Best of Boston 2007 Kid-Friendly Brunch.

For a meal with a view, Top of the Hub (800 Boylston Street, Prudential Center, 52nd Floor) offers a 360-degree view of the city, plus live jazz and original American dishes with unique flavors.

No major city is without its friendly arguments over the best pizza and Boston is no exception. At Pizzeria Regina (11 Thacher Street), Bostonians have enjoyed tasty brick oven pizza for over 70 years. For specialty pizza, head to Croma (269 Newbury Street), where the special is in the combinations like Peking duck, scallions, and hoisin sauce, or bacon, sausage, mozzarella, and an egg, sunny-side up.

For casual dining, try Bukowski Tavern (50 Dalton Street), voted Best of Boston 2007 Pub Grub. The burgers are big and messy, and the menu includes classic barbequed chicken tenders and the one and only White-Trash Cheese Dip. If you want your casual with a healthy twist, try B. Good (131 Dartmouth Street), where two childhood friends offers guilt-free burgers, fries, along with vegetarian dishes and salads.

Top off your Boston tastebud tour with a confection from Choco Choco House (83 Pembroke Street), voted Best of Boston 2007 Chocolate. Or indulge in one of Boston’s favorite dishes, ice cream. Bostonians eat more ice cream per capita than anyone else in the USA, and when they want the best, it’s Christina’s (1255 Cambridge Street) with 40 rotating offerings, some created with ingredients from the spice shop next door.

If you are headed to Boston to experience the best in the northeast, CRSHotels.com has the perfect hotel for you. Stay at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers, with McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant onsite, or The Langham Boston, featuring Café Fleuri. Choose the Lenox Hotel Boston, the Hilton Boston Financial District, or the Best Western Adams Inn Boston.

Bourbon Steak is located within The Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club in Aventura, Florida. Fairmont hotels and resorts are leaders in the global hospitality industry with a distinctive collection and a worldwide reputation for excellence. Fairmont hotels and resorts offer guests an extraordinary place that is created by combining unique architecture and structure, expressive decor and artistry, and magnificent features all in one great location. Add great service to this and the result is an extraordinary experience that would make your memory of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts a long and lasting one. I mention this because I know this to be the truth; one stay at a Fairmont property and yes the memory will be a long and lasting one. So it’s no surprise that the Mina Group has partnered with Fairmont.

What started out as a request to interview Matthew Turner, Sommelier at Bourbon Steak Miami on his award winning wine list ended up being a four and a half hour tour of sheer epicurean and oenophile pleasure; this my treasured readers is what the afterlife must be about, so come with me into the light of Bourbon Steak Miami.

Matthew Turner, Sommelier at Bourbon Steak Miami, keeper and guardian of the two-time prized Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence for his wine list. Matthew lives wine. What breathing is to you and I, varietals, terrior, and vintages is to Matthew. There are 900 selections of wine on the Bourbon Steak wine list and Matthew has sampled, tasted and enjoyed all of them and can tell you about each of them. Matthew can pair your dinner with wine and take you to places of gastronome you cannot even imagine. No dinner is complete without its proper wine pairing and Matthew did just that; properly pair wines with each of the five courses I enjoyed. Matthew holds daily classroom wine sessions with the dining service staff teaching and training them about the magnificent world of wine. I had an opportunity to sit in on one of the wine classes and there is no question in my mind that whether it is Matthew Turner or any member of his staff you question about a wine selection you will be guided towards the right choice.

It was an absolute thrill, course after course each one more exciting than the previous, I simply did not want this experience to end and did not give much thought as to how much food and wine I could possibly consume in one sitting.

My dining experience of epicurean pleasure started with a refreshing and perfectly chilled Scallop Ceviche garnished with Cilantro, Grapefruit and served with Espelette Crackers paired with IRON HORSE CUVEE MICHAEL MINA BLANC DE BLANCS, Sonoma 2000.

Staying with the chilled courses we were then served a splendid Sungold Tomato Gazpacho garnished with Peekytoe Crab, Avocado and Basil served with PACO & LOLA ALBARINO, Rias Baixas, Spain 2007.

Our next course was a rich and velvety smooth seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras with Star Anise and Bing Cherries perfectly paired with THE RARE WINE COMPANY BOSTON BUAL, Madeira.

My entree choice was American Kobe Rib Eye Filet that melted in my mouth served with Castelvetrano Olives, Arugula, and Olive Oil-Poached Marble Potatoes served with a magnificent CHATEAU MOULIN DE TRICOT BORDEAUX BLEND, Haut Medoc, France 2004.

And no dinner is complete without dessert, but what about three desserts? (I couldn’t make up my mind!) The desserts I ever so sinfully indulged in were Doughnut Tiramisu with Mascarpone Mousse and Espresso Syrup the freshest and most delightful Peach Crisp with Blackberry Sorbet and a trio of cool, refreshing Chef’s Selection of Sorbets that was the perfect ending to the magnificent dinner all paired with a tremendous dessert wine, DR. LOOSEN BEERENAUSLESE RIESLING, Mosel, Germany 2006.

Bourbon Steak is a participating restaurant in Miami Spice, a restaurant promotion program that gives restaurants an opportunity to showcase their very best cuisine inclusive of a three course meal during the summer months of August and September for $35/person. The gazpacho, my entrée, the American Kobe Rib Eye Fillet and all three desserts are items on the Bourbon Steak Miami Spice menu. I highly recommend that you take full advantage of Miami Spice and visit Bourbon Steak. You will undeniably be WOW’d! thrilled and in awe of dining at Bourbon Steak. To miss a dining experience at Bourbon Steak would truly be missing out on something extraordinary. And if you join Matthew and his team for dinner on Wednesday night you’ll get a double treat as it is Bourbon & Blues night from 7:30-10:30pm.

Many people don’t realize that some of the finest restaurants in the Los Angeles area are located in hotels. For some reason, many people don’t think of hotels and fine dining in most cases. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, but you should consider some of the more obscure places to find hotel restaurants that will become your new favorites.

Seeking new places to dine and bring the family can be a challenge. With new restaurants opening and closing all of the time in the Los Angeles area it is difficult to frequent the same place for very long. Hotel restaurants are a part of the hotel and are usually kept open for the convenience of hotel guests. For this reason, you are more likely to find a good restaurant that is going to be available to you for many years. The chefs in these restaurants are fully trained and some of the very best under recognized talents in the country. With very few exceptions these restaurants are not often thought of as the very best in fine foods or fine dining. However, typically the hotel restaurants in Los Angeles are world class and offer a very diverse menu for travelers and locals alike.

For those who are looking for a new restaurant in their local area, a good place to start is the one that is located in the local hotel. Just as diners offer some of the best home style food in the world, a hotel restaurant caters to vacationers, business travelers and those who are looking for something delicious and conveniently located. You are sure to get a great meal in many of these local hotel restaurants. Begin your search by checking out the local hotels and find out if they have a restaurant located in the hotel. It can be a fun experience trying out these places to find your very favorite.

For the exclusive and famous hotels, the restaurants might be a little difficult to get a table. Check with the restaurant to find out if you need reservations and get set for a night of experimentation and fun. Discovering a new great place to take your friends and family is one of the joys of trying out these hotel restaurants.

Often you will find reviews for hotels available online. In some cases, the restaurant is discussed in the review of the hotel. This is a good place to find out what to expect in the hotel restaurants. Fine dining guides for Los Angeles might provide some useful information on which hotel restaurants are the very best. If you are serious about your dining experience, this is a useful tool to have on your side. Take some time and explore all of the hotel restaurants in Los Angeles that you may have overlooked. You will probably be surprised at the excellent quality of the food and the staff in these establishments. And you might just find your new favorite local restaurant located in a place you never thought of for fine dining.

Francesca Romano has owned and operated several Italian restaurants in the Greater Los Angeles area. She is currently working with CaliFindIt.com, California’s premier source of information, developing their restaurant section. If you are looking for fine dining, casual dining or takeout restaurants in Los Angeles, visit http://www.restaurants.califindit.com to find all of L.A.’s best restaurants, their menus, maps to their locations and coupons for discounts.

Las Vegas is not just for taking in big name shows or for playing the slot machines. Many people come to this city to get married, celebrate an anniversary or just for a romantic holiday. Romantic dining in Las Vegas is very popular and is available in all the hotels and in many of the out of the way restaurants. Try the red Rock Feats at the Red Rock Canyon Resort where there are six live-action cooking stations. This buffet is one of the largest in the city. You certainly won’t walk away hungry. Dine in candlelight at a table for two and let the rest of the world pass you by for an evening of romance.

Three of the top romantic dining restaurants have been listed as:

AquaKnox – This fine dining seafood restaurant features a water theme. There is a walk-in wine cellar and a large open kitchen. You are always guaranteed fresh seafood as it is flown in daily from all over the world. Crab, lobster, grilled salmon and many other delectable delights are always on the menu.

Aureole – This is easily recognized as one of the restaurants for American cuisine. It is located in the Mandalay Resort and Casino and features world class chefs. Designed by Adam D. Tihany, you will feel as if you are the only two people in the world when you dine here.

Bradley Ogden – If you are looking for a new take on traditional American food, this restaurant is a casual restaurant with elegant cuisine. The restaurant seats 140 and is divided into three sections with a fireplace in the main dining. Here you can pretend that it isn’t hot outside as you snuggle up next to the fireplace and romance the night away.
