American Fine Dining is a site dedicated to outstanding American restaurants serving the best American cuisine using primarily USA-sourced ingredients.  Instead of listing many restaurants, we've decided to feature a select few that excel in high quality and exemplify what I call "American-ness".  As I described on DininginFrance.com, my appreciation of French cuisine came mostly from my father when I was growing up.  Yet I also remember that he nearly always dismissed fine dining restaurants if they served "American food," which he regarded as base and unsophisticated.  Thankfully, my first meal at An American Place (at its former New York City location just off Park Avenue South) shattered any bias against American cuisine I may have held.  I still remember the terrific meals I enjoyed there and how captivated I was by the "all American" concept of Chef Larry Forgione.
